The Attorneys at Poland and Wheeler

Scott Poland – Senior Partner

Scott Poland was admitted to the Colorado the bar in 1981.  After being admitted to the bar Scott opened his own practice primarily focusing on personal injury and criminal defense actions.  As his practice has grown and developed, Scott has sharpened his skills as an aggressive trial advocate.  Scott has represented clients in matters ranging from DUI to murder.  Although the firm has grown, Scott has always followed one guiding principal which is that every client should be entitled to a dedicated advocate who places the client’s interest above all others.

In addition to trial advocacy, Scott has represented numerous clients in appellate matters.  Scott has argued in front of the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.  To see a published case in which he was lead counsel, see United States v. Sicken 223 F.3d 1169 (10th Cir. 2000).

Scott is a creative advocate who remains dedicated to aggressively representing the rights of his clients.  As the Law Office of Poland and Wheeler continues to grow it will be Scott’s client centered ideals which will guide the firm.

Andrew Poland – Associate

Andrew Poland was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 2012.  Prior to his admission Andrew was a clerk with the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office.  After his admission Andrew began working at the Law Office of Poland and Wheeler.  Andrew currently practices in the fields of child welfare and criminal defense.  Since his admission to the Bar Andrew has argued in front of the Colorado Court of Appeals as well as the Colorado Supreme Court, See. People in the Interest of S.N. 2014 CO 64.

Andrew is a caring and hardworking attorney who zealously represents the interests of his clients.

People in the Interest S.N. 2014 COA 116

In this prospective harm case, the trial court adjudicated the parents’ child, S.N., dependent and neglected by summary judgment. The case came before the Colorado Court of Appeals following a remand from the Supreme Court, which directed the Court to determine whether the underlying material facts were undisputed and, if they were, “apply the dependency and neglect statute to the facts and determine whether reasonable minds could draw differing inferences.” People in Interest of S.N., 2014 CO 64, 1, 24, 26 (S.N. II).  The Court of Appeals concluded that some of the underlying material facts were disputed, that some were undisputed, and that reasonable minds could draw differing inferences from those facts that were undisputed.  The Court of Appeals  reversed thetrial court’s summary judgment and remand for an adjudicatory trial.

This case was decided in favor of our client and the matter was sent back to the trial court for further proceedings.
